Trauma Therapy
Compassionate Support for Healing
We all at some point in life have experienced “hardship, tragedy or trauma”. However, it does not mean these experiences equate to one developing PTSD. For some these post-trauma reactions decrease over some time whereas for others they increasingly become distressing over stages of life leading to a poor quality of life. It is important to walk our clients through identifying, understanding, accepting, and nurturing their experiences of trauma as it may shape who they are but never define them.
Many ways in which trauma impacts the quality of life include experiences of flashbacks, anxiety, fear, internalized shame, low self-esteem, grief, feelings of neglect, difficulty trusting others, struggles with sexual connections, financial difficulty, fractured relationships, dissociation, and difficulty with sleep.
Using a trauma-informed approach helps;
- Building and strengthen self-esteem
- Foster healthy relationships
- Processing and reframe trauma
- Emotional regulation and self-care practices
- Build community and support systems
- Define and add meaning to your story
- Designing a future far removed from experiences of trauma
- Strengthening the sense of self and identity
